how can i set dates in right order in cells that are not in order?

how can i set dates in right order in cells that are not in order?

okay so i need to fill some cells with dates like "01/01/2025.... 02/01/2025... and so on" but these cells are not side by side, they are distant.

i was thinking of some wat of filling them in the order i select the cells

like i select the first cell, then the second cell, then the 3rd and so on, and then fill all of them with the dates in the order i clicked.

    is this even possible?

im having to manually do this and its being a pain in the *ss

    Fast answers need clear examples.

Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands...) and some manually calculated results. For a new thread (1st post), scroll to Manage Attachments, otherwise scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.
If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.

Assuming your dates mean that you want the dates to be 1 through 4 January, I entered =MAX(B$2:B3)+1 into B4, then copied and pasted into the other cells. Would something like that work for you?

    thanks for your reply.

but i've tried copy and paste your formula in my example and it gives an error.

either way, i was hoping to autofill all the cells with the right dates, and not copy and paste a formula in every cell

is there a way to autofill based in the order i click the cells?

like click B4, click B7, click B10 and so on, and then fill these cells with the dates?

i know this sounds like asking for a lot, but if these cells were next to each other that would be so easy

I can't think of a way to do this with autofill. A formula seemed like the easiest way, but you say you don't want to use a formula, either. A macro would be able to do this. You start the macro, have it ask for the starting date, then keep entering dates until you tell it to stop. It's not the kind of macro programming I do, so I will let others step in to provide code if you can use a macro.

In B4 (if those intermediate rows in column D are actually empty...) -->
    =$B$2+COUNTA($D$2:D4)-1

    * is that sample a true representative of the actual?
