Change color of cell, but leave checkbox uncolored

I have a checkbox in my workbook.
I'd like the checkbox to be sitting in a gray cell, but I want the checkbox itself to be white.

If I change the cell color it changes the checkbox fill color.

I tried putting a shape over the cell, but then I couldn't click the checkbox.
    Same with a text box.

    Is there a way?

I don't think that can be done. The color for the checkbox, which is the FONT color is only for the outline when it's not checked. When it's checked, the inside gets filled with the font color you've chosen.

You can do it with an ActiveX or Forms checkbox, but it's more work to set up.

Thanks Gregb11 and Jeff. I thought maybe that was the case. I remember with the old ActiveX checkboxes we could do that, but I think maybe then they were more of a shape, versus new checkboxes which are related to fonts. I'll just have to figure out another way.

    Thanks.
