Red face Use "Highlight Cells if greater than" but, can I have it highlight the whole row instead?

Basically, I want to highlight the whole row if the VALUE in Column "G" is Greater Than 30...

Also, if possible, I'd like to highlight the whole row if the VALUE in Column "G" is less than 5...

I am trying to get the greater than highlight in red.
The less than to highlight in green.

The values are minutes, its for IDLING TIME for our company vehicles.

I work in the field as an Environmental Tech cleaning hazarous material. I know my way around a pc but, ive never had a reason to use / learn excel.
I am able to set it up to where it will highlight the cell in G but not the row.

If anyone can help me id appreciate it greatly...

    Thanks to everyone!

Welcome to the Forum CHESAF !

When you add the conditional formatting rule, highlight the columns you want to include (I am assuming you don't literally mean the whole row all the way to column XFD). Then the rules will look like

    =$G1>30
    =$G1<5

The $ is the magic part here.

If this doesn't work then please attach your file, see yellow banner at the top of the page.

Would I want to use a formula for that instead of just using the conditional formatting > Highlight Cell Rules > Greater Than...

When I try to look it up online, It seems like people's screenshots Conditional Formatting pane looks different than mine.

To highlight the whole row you have to use a formula, not the Greater Than rule, because you need your formatting to refer to the value in a cell other than the one you want to format.

Your CF screen looks like that because you are using Excel Online. The desktop version looks different, but the way it works is the same.

I still get just the Cell in Column G highlighted.
I apologize. I am VERY new with Excel.
Still googling and using Co-Pilot to learn.

I have been pretty much highlighting everything manually but, there is a good amount of things to sort through that it slows me down pretty greatly.

    Thank You!

    I figured out that much....

Is there a way, where it WONT highlight rows, that have a text Value, like it says Duration (Minutes) or a blank space?

    Those get highlighted as well...
Sorry for troubling you so much.

In what column? Can you give an example? Do you mean to not highlight the entire row if there is a text value....where?

You said you figured it out, but the answer is to set the "Apply To Range" to whatever columns you are using, like $A:$J.

687 and 690, the one is black in "G" and the other "Duration (Minutes)" also get highlighted even though they dont have a number value. There are more rows throughout the spreadsheet though.
Im not sure how to exclude those from the formula.
I figured out what you were talking about as far as how to use the formula to get it to work.
I just am not sure how to exclude those.

Again, you've already been tremendous help, I appreciate it.

Pictures are of very limited help. At this point I suggest attaching your actual file.
