    Post Calculating attendance percentages for the whole school

    Hi everyone.
    I'm new here, self-taught and could use some help. (Using office 2021)

    I'm working on a School Attendance Register.
    I'm trying to calculate the percentages for the whole school and separate year groups.
    you'll find this in the "PERCENTAGES" tab

    The problem is the total combined percentages for present, absent and authorised absent isn't adding up to 100%

    For example:
    Present 90.91%
    Absent Authorised 7.52%
    Absent 2.85%
    Total 101.28%

    I'm using the average function.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    you cant use averages on percentages , unless the base number is the same throughout

    1/10 = 10%
    1/100 = 1%
    average = 5.5%
    BUT
    2/110 = 1.8%

    looking through all your spreadsheet is a bit difficult for a sample

    Hi jamalali749,

    As @etaf has stated, you would need to use actuals.

    See attached where I have added the formula required, see also the tab that ends with '(2)' where I have done it a bit more how I would do it (I like to have more figures than I need)

    There are also other ways you could do this, you could add all of the data in each tab to the table and then combine the three tables with PowerQuery and do the sums from one table.

    Anyhow, have a look at the attachment.
