Looking up most recent values from two columns

I have a spreadsheet like this (cells A1 to D5):

    Orange 5 Peas 6
    Apple 3 Cabbage 13
    Lettuce 2 Pear 10
    Pear 7 Lettuce 1
    Cherry 11 Lime 4

I want a formula to lookup the number next to the last value (most recent in the list) of an input. So for example, if I want Pear the result of the formula will be 7, and if I want Lettuce the result would be 1.

(I hope that makes sense, any help much appreciated.)

    Still using Excel 2016?

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.
