I want to create a sheet that allows me to simply type the name of the student and obtain the number of lessons of a student that's taking the classes. Whenever I type out the name, I want the lesson taken to increase by 1 up till 8, at which it will go to -1 -2 etc. I want it to work across multiple sheets with different dates if possible too.
I've attached an example of the sheet and a screenshot. Please help me out. Thanks!!!
Not clear - where are the initial counts coming from?

Say for example, today is the 1st lesson of this student (e.g.1/8). The next time they attend (could be same day or different day), I would like to simply key the student's name and see that it would be 2/8, allowing me to easily check through for lesson completion.
