Question How to Find Percentage Remaining

    Hello Everyone,

Simple question I have an original number (credit line) $6,000 and I have (balance) $3225.16 of that remaining. How would I figure the percentage remaining of the original $6,000 to pay off?

    Sample.png

Column H is my line of credit. Column B is my usage of that line. I am trying to find the percentage of that line I am currently using.

So I have $100 and am using $50 that is 50% of the line used.

Since it has been several days I am reposting this on other forums.

Re: How to Fine Percentage Remaining

    Hi Alan,

thanks for the answer but that doesn't seem to work. Lets see if I can explain what I am looking for.

Column H is my line of credit. Column B is my usage of that line. I am trying to find the percentage of that line I am currently using.

So I have $100 and am using $50 that is 50% of the line used.

Re: How to Find Percentage Remaining

I'm not sure I understand. As a guess, if (H2-B2)/H2 is not correct, the other obvious percentage is B2/H2.

You provide the example of 50 out of 100 is 50%. The problem with the example is that, being exactly half, it is ambiguous exactly which half you are trying to get when you say that this is 50%. What result would you want if you had 100 and were using 30? Would you be looking for 30% (30/100) or 70% ((100-30)/100) or something else?

Re: How to Find Percentage Remaining

I was actually looking for the reverse result of this. Instead of how much I am using I want how much is left to use.

Balance $3,225.16 starting balance $6,000 what percent is remaining to pay off. Does this help?

    Thanks

Balance 150. Credit line 600... expected answer??

    It can only be

    1. (600-150)/600

    2. 150/600

    which?

Thank you Glen. I thought I had already tried both of those but the 150/600 worked.
