Highlighting fields that are used elsewhere

    Afternoon all,

Newbie here. I'm hoping someone can help me with a formula that I'm struggling to get to work. I am using Excel to create a ROTA daily and I would like to improve what I've got currently. For context, I manage a number of delivery rounds which have a driver and drivers mate on each round. Therefore, what i would like help with is this: I've put all the names of the people in my department on one side in column M. I then have 2 columns (driver = column B and drivers mate = column C) and would like to highlight the names (in column M) as i assign them to rounds, so i know who has been 'used' and what i've got left. Could somebody advise what formula I'd need to use, assuming it can be done?

    Many thanks

    Welcome to the forum

Please attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

If you want to highlight cells based on a condition, that can be done with Conditional Formatting.

If you want to highlight the names in column M if they are found in column B or column C, you can do this:

Highlight all of column M (by clicking on M) > Conditional Formatting > New Rule > Use a formula
    =COUNTIFS(B:C,M1)
Format: Fill color of your choice > OK > OK
