    Creating another group/identifier - Not sure if I use a formula/conditional formatting

    Hi,

I had three workshops that I hosted. I wanted to separate participants in groups based on how many workshops they attended.

    For example:

Participant 1, went to workshops 2 and 3. Therefore, I would like to put them in a group WS2&3 (Workshops 2 & 3). So I would like to create a formula that has every participant who went to the 2nd and 3rd workshops in group WS2&3.

Participant 2, went to workshops 1 and 3. Therefore, I would make another group, WS1&3 (Workshops 1 & 3), and put participants that meet these criteria into group WS1&3.

So I think there would be the following groups

    WS1&2
    WS1&3
    WS2&3
    WS1&2&3

All attendees on the list attended at least two workshops.

My Excel file provides an example of my data. I have hundreds of rows of actual data, and to go through and manually specify their group would be very time-consuming...

Thank you for your help and input!

    Welcome to the Excel Forum.

I use helper columns, one for each group with this formula, say in K2, copied down:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Then I change criteria to meet the other groups in columns L thru N.

Then I use this array formula to list unique values from the helper columns. Paste it in D2, confirm with Ctrl+Shift+Enter, instead of just Enter, then copy across and down:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Please check file attached and let us know how it goes.

    Good luck!
