Formel to count if not blank in a array, if another cell is equal to reference cell

Hi

Hope you can help.

I would like like to count if there is any activity, marked in any of the cells.

Thinking something like

If cells in array I21:I26, is not blank, count and type in "D" equals the corresponding C9-C19, type, then count the number of cells not blank.
In the attached sheet I9 = 3, J9 = 1 etc...

Hope this makes sense, I tried with if and counta but the logic is buggy me today.
