Data Validation won't accept this formula, WHY???

HI, Data validation won't accept this formula for some reason. The formula works when in a std cell. But if I try to paste it into data validation for a drop down list it is not accepted.
Can anyone tell me why, and how to work around this perhaps?

=UNIQUE(FILTER(DrList[Models],(DrList[Brands]=L13)))

You cannot use table structured references in a data validation formula. You will have to use the actual row/column references instead.
