    Revenue by year and quarter

Hello, I have two separate workbooks that list project revenue at certain dates, how do I get a combined yearly, and quarterly revenue on a separate workbook or worksheet?

My data is something like it is in the attached file.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

One way first transpose the data by copying A1:AC3 and selecting say B5 and using Paste Special Transpose. If you had 365 you could do that with the new TRANSPOSE() function

The use a Pivot table on the transposed data

Re: Revenue by year and quarter

Is there a way to do this by using formulas instead? preferably without helper columns or rows. The reason i am asking is that the Pivot table would mess up my file.

    Thanks

Please update your profile to reflect your current version of Excel. It will make a difference in the solutions provided. Since you are now running O365, here is a power query solution attached.

Power Query is a free AddIn for Excel 2010 and 2013, and is built-in functionality from Excel 2016 onwards (where it is referred to as "Get & Transform Data").

It is a powerful yet simple way of getting, changing and using data from a broad variety of sources, creating steps which may be easily repeated and refreshed. I strongly recommend learning how to use Power Query - it's among the most powerful functionalities of Excel.
