Conditional format to highlight older dates from today in colours

I am trying to format the date cells to see what needs updating, so depending how old it is the fill colour will change from blue recent through to red very old.

I have tried to put a conditional format in that i thought would do it, but it isn't working.

If anyone can have a look and advise please, i would appreciate it.
