Task List to Auto-Populate into a Calendar

    Hi -
I am looking to link my project tracker on one worksheet to auto-populate onto the calendar I have created. The common denominator is the date. I want the project tracker to auto-populate the "Project Name" on the designated date on my calendar on the first tab. For example, on 9/17 I want "Email Notification" to appear on the calendar on that date. I can conditional format the colors later.

Can anyone help me with how to do this?

    Welcome to the forum.

There is no 2021 version of Excel - latest versions are Excel 2019 and MS365. Please update your profile with the one you have.

There are many threads on similar issues - did you do a search before posting? I will have a look at your workbook.

Thank you so much. I will simply use this workbook and transfer over the terrible Hubspot calendar I have now.

That calendar is one of my early ones. The years are chosen from a data validation drop-down in cell K4 of the Calendar sheet, so select that cell and click on Data | Data Validation (twice) and you will see the years listed in the Source box separated by a comma. You can add more years to this list in the same format, as well as deleting earlier years if no longer needed. Click OK when you are done.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you. My version is Microsoft Excel for Mac Version 16.49, License is Microsoft 365. I've searched a lot of threads - those are more interactive calendars, scrolling through weeks with more than one common denominator -- not so much a to-do listed on this date that gets populated straight onto my calendar.

Re: Task List to Auto-Populate into a Calendar

Thanks for updating your profile. Sadly i can't help you with the Mac version (someone else will be able to). I was hoping you'd have MS365, as it would make this much easier.

EDIT: Just read your post - please change your forum profile to MS365 for Mac.

One thing you WILL need to address in your workbook: the dates in the calendar need to be REAL DATES, At the moment they are just text, but whatever solution you are offered will require dates. You can format dates to look like the text you've used, however.

hose are more interactive calendars, scrolling through weeks with more than one common denominator -- not so much a to-do listed on this date that gets populated straight onto my calendar.
Well, that's what it looks like you want from the attachment, so you had better clarify exactly how you are expecting this all to work!!!

    Your title is this:

Task List to Auto-Populate into a Calendar
Why would you put that if you want something entirely different? Please update the title to accurately reflect what you are trying to achieve.

Re: Task List to Auto-Populate into a Calendar

Hello! I have found this calendar so incredibly helpful. Quick follow up question--how might I change this file so that I can have more than 7 entries per day? Thanks so much!

Re: Task List to Auto-Populate into a Calendar

Welcome to the forum, but you shouldn't really ask a question in someone else's thread (see Forum Rule 04 above). Instead, you should start a new thread of your own, and indicate how many entries per day that you would like to have. It would also help if you attached a sample Excel workbook, so we can see what data you would like to display in the calendar.

Use a similar thread title, and I'll look out for it.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Thanks Pete. I see you are a super contributor here, and I've joined to learn from experts like yourself! I will start a new thread, essentially I am using your calendar multi lookup file that has been re-posted many times (likely because it is so useful!). It would simply be instead of 7 entries something like 12 per day.

    Best,
    Luke
