Help writing formula - If cell = % vs text

Hi,

I am having a hard time writing a formula that does what I want. For example, if I have these two cells:

A1= "1.5%"
A2 = "12 Years"

I want to write a formula that says If A1 is equal to a the format of ###%, then A1, else A2.

The reason I am writing this formula is because I have a tool that pulls in data from a website, but sometimes the site changes and then it pulls in wrong data. I can narrow it down into two cells and if I write this IF formula, I can grab the write data no matter what, even if the site makes a little change.

Does this make sense?
