Using offset with ampersand

I have the following offset formula below which I have tried to use but cannot get it to work

I have the row numbers in Col M

In the example below M2 is 6 so the reference is D6

Kindly amend my code so that the reference refers to D and the row number in M2

=INDEX(D:D,M2+1)

This is perfect-did not think about using the index function
