    Sorting cell content based on text within text?

    Hi, I've created an example spreadsheet of what I'm looking to do.

    I need the contents of Column A to be sorted (Example output, Column C), based on the input text contained within Column B.

    I am still pretty new to excel and haven't been able to figure this out. I've tried XLOOKUP, but that doesn't seem to do what I need here.


    Column B contains a string of text that exists in each cell on Column A. "dll" exists in A3, for example. What I want is to basically sort A2, A3, and A4 using B2, B3 and B4 as a guide. This would be output as seen on Column C.



    Hopefully this is possible, thank you for any help you can provide!

    In your real file, how many criterias do you have (maximum), or only 3?
    How many rows of data are there ?

    Only the three criteria. I might make more rows of this once I see how the function works, but all I need for now is what is presented in the example. Thanks

    I offer a helper-solution in column A
    Insert column A, then in A2
    Please Login or Register  to view this content.
    Choose both column A&B, then sort Z-A base on column A
    If there were more than 1 case of same criteria and want to sort within them, try to combine with column B
    Example in A10
