Hi there, I'm new to using Excel in a more advance capacity so I'll try to explain this as best I can.
I am working in a workbook in which I have two sheets of data of interest. In the first sheet, I have dates in column A and in column B I have a list of LSOA names (i.e. local level geographic boundaries), as such:
Date LSOA
01/08/2017 Portsmouth 001A
01/08/2017 Portsmouth 001B
01/08/2017 Portsmouth 001C
01/08/2017 Portsmouth 001C
01/08/2017 Portsmouth 001D
In sheet 2, I have three columns of data regarding the larger level wards and local authorities into which LSOA's fall as such:
Local Authority Ward LSOA
Portsmouth Paulsgrove Portsmouth 001A
Portsmouth Paulsgrove Portsmouth 001B
Portsmouth Paulsgrove Portsmouth 001C
Portsmouth Paulsgrove Portsmouth 001D
What I want to do is to add a third column to the first sheet that gives the ward that each given LSOA falls into, as detailed in the second sheet, so for example, for Portsmouth 001A, this would be Paulsgrove. Essentially, I want C (sheet 1) to = B (sheet 2) if B (sheet 1) = C (sheet 2).
Is there a formula function that can perform this?
Thanks in advance.
