Post Unable to insert column with correct formula inserted - I think!

I am trying to add a column in the left hand side of my accountancy pay in sheet and to the right hand side.
When i add columns on the right hand side all is ok, the formulas still work, but when i add columns on the left hand side they dont.
in the final column i have SUM(H4:Q4)-D4-G4 as an eample. So i would presume that if i added a column between D4-G4 it would work?

    Welcome to the forum.

The best solution to this problem is to improve your working practices: don't insert columns to the left. Find a new way of presenting your data.

Re: Unable to insert column with correct formula inserted - I think!

Good afternoon Ali, Many thanks for your quick and understandable response. I tried going to home and insert and it still inserted the column to the left and did not allow me to use the formula. I then went to the help section in excel and it told me how to put a column to the right and it did but the formula still does not work.
Is there anything else i should be doing please. Kind regards John

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.
