Need help summing and merging tables based on shared column

Hey all,

I have two datasets; one comprised of data gathered at a point and another comprised of stem densities taken at 4 quadrants around each survey points. I need to add the sum of the stem densities at each survey point and merge them into one table based on the column named "Survey ID". I'm new to Excel and haven't figured out how to do this. I've attached a sample of the dataset to this forum post, thanks for any help!

First just a check to see if I understand what you want:

You want, for example, LogData cell R3 to be set to the sum of all entries in column D of sheet LL where SurveyID in sheet LL column-D matches SurveyID in LogData column-A. Is that right?

If so, then I think you can set LogData cell Q2 to:

and then copy / paste that formula to the entire range Q2 to T20.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any matching survey IDs in your sample data, so for the sake of testing I changed sheet LL B7 and B18 to 1355. LogData cell R3 now contains 12, which, if I have understood the problem correctly is the right result.

Let us know whether or not I am on the right track.

I created a named range Quadrants, marked orange in new tab Summary, with a list of quadrant tabs.
Then I use formula below to do YOUR SUMIF.
