conditional formatting as such cannot remove text from a cell, you can just keep background colour and text colour same.
the conditional formatting formula that can be used here is
=left($A1,2)+0=40 then select colour as green and font colour as green to make date invisible.

Hi, I didn't think it was possible to delete cell content but thought I would ask, you provide a good work around. For the less experienced excel user, can you conform what the 2 represents please in the formula.
Also, if Cell "K" is blank it also turns the respective cell green. If there a way of discounting blank cells?
Thanks

left(text , number of characters you want to take)
2 in above function is taking first two letter from cell.
what do you mean by Cell "K" ??
Great thank you for the explanation. Ooops sorry was looking at the master spreadsheet, I meant Column A not K (Storage Temp).
Cheers
I did not encountered that if any cell in Column A is blank then also it would turn green
check the attachment
Finally got it to work, think it was conflicting with other formatting.
Thank you vmuch for your help
you are welcome Redders ! Glad I could help
Being cheeky, I have another thread related to the same spreadsheet if you could offer any help. No problem if you cannot thought I would ask.
