    Unhappy COUNTIFS with Date Ranges

    Hello,
    I am trying to add a 2nd argument to COUNTIFS that to count would look for a date to fall within an entered date.
    Specifically in the attached example, I would like to count how many times unique names in Name Column A appear and list them as Total occurrences. I know how to do that with COUNTIFS and 1 argument.

    What I need then is to further narrow down the results and count the unique name occurrences for which Date1 falls in the range entered manually on the right - results manually calculated highlighted in yellow.
    Can you please help? I know it has to do with COUNTIFS and multiple arguments but can't seem to get it right.

    This is what you are looking for:

    =COUNTIFS($A$2:$A$10,D2,$B$2:$B$10,">="&K$2,$B$2:$B$10,"<="&L$2)

    =COUNTIFS(A$2:A$10,D2,B$2:B$10,">=" & K$2,B$2:B$10,"<=" &L$2)

    in F2 and drag it down.
