Im having trouble to get a specific IFS formula working.

I want to auto convert the first example to the second.
Using the "LEFT-formula" is not possible because i have codes with one character and codes with two (or possible more)

I tried to use the IFS formula (in dutch "ALS.VOORWAARDEN"). I got the formula working, but i cant seem to instruct excel to ignore the cell content after my specific code.

Is there a way to get excel to the entries after a specific code. For example: "L (VR)(N)" becomes L (and ignores the " (VR)(N)".

Because at the moment the only solution i see is to rename all my codes to 2 characters and use the LEFT - Formula, but this limits my options in the original codes.
