Conditional Formatting based on a formula

    HI!

So I'm having difficulty with a formalua that generates conditional formatting. Here's what I'm trying to do...

If column B (PO NUmber) has a PO number, but column H (Acknowledgements) does not say "YES" then I need the blank cell in that row in column H to become red.

I also need the total number of red cells to sum on a front sheet in the same workbook as an overview of outstanding acknowledgements.

This is what I have so far but it's giving me a #NAME! error =AND($B499,ISNUMBER,$H499, "",FALSE)

    Any help would be appreciated!

Use this as the CF formula:

    =AND(ISNUMBER(B2),H2<>"Yes")

    CF applied to H2:H15

    Hi

    Thanks for the speedy reply!

Unfortunately this didn't work, it's applying the red format to all cells in column a-d

If it can make the entire row red if b has a PO number and H doesn't have "YES" this would be good

    Hi there,

See if the attached workbook gets you moving in the right direction.

The "Register" worksheet will cater for up to 500 PO Numbers.

The worksheet uses a helper column (J) to determine whether or not Acknowledgement cells should be highlighted, and it is also used to produce the total number of outstanding acknowledgements - this value is displayed on the "Outstanding" worksheet. The helper column may be hidden if required.

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M

    Hi again,

Two workbooks attached - a standard workbook and a macro-enabled workbook. See if you can open either of them.

You don't need the help column.

You don't need the help column.

Very true, but using one probably makes it easier for the OP to understand.

Re: Conditional Formatting based on a formula

    Hi again,

Strange, I've successfully opened all of the workbooks using the links posted in this thread.

Can't really understand why they won't open for you

    Regards,

    Greg M
