If Formula (IF this condition is met, then adjacent cell equals above cell)

    Hi,
I'm developing a productivity app within Excel, and what I would like to do is have a happy face show up in the right adjacent cell whenever you type in an accomplishment.

I'm pretty sure this can be accomplished with an IF formula, but I'm not familiar enough with the syntax.

So I need the IF formula to do this: If there is any data in the "accomplishment entry cell" (D5), then something like: IF(D5>0) then (E5=E4)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hello,

I would use this function in D3 and copy down:

Very cool, thank you so much!

Question: I'm running Parallels on my Mac so I can see what I created looks like on Excel in Windows. On my Mac the happy face is a colored (pic), on Windows just the default color of the cell. Not the biggest deal but was wondering if there is a way to get the better looking happy face to work in Windows. On the formula you sent me, it shows up as the colored happy face even on the forum site (as well as my email) is this just a Mac/Windows difference, or something else?

Included pic to show the difference.

    I don't know. I would assume it's a Windows/Mac difference.
