Calculating "partial time" for a 40 hour work week.

    Hey, everyone!

I'm wanting to sum how much "partial time" an employee worked during the week. What I mean by "partial time" is the time they didn't work during their 8 hour shift.

MON TUES WED THU FRI TOTAL HRS WORKED PARTIAL TIME
    4 8 5 8 off 25 7

The expected result is 7 because 8-4=4 and 8-5=3.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a formula where I get that result. Perhaps I'm looking at things the wrong way or I have an incorrect setup. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you all!

    How about this?

    =40-(COUNTIFS(A2:E2,"off")*8)-SUM(A2:E2)

where A2:E2 are the cells containing the week's data.

With a bit of an adjustment, this works perfectly. Thank you!
