Calculate the numerical portion of entries in a range of cells & show sum in another cell

My original question was answered by TMS, but I have a follow-up question and was advised to start a new thread.

    Original thread: 1278713-count-text-in-a-range-and-for-each-instance-add-a-value-to-another-cell

    My question now is:

To expand on the same idea, is there a way to put a range in? Say for instance that the text in the row is between "LA1" and "LA10", the number after LA gets added to the other cell.

For instance: E10 contains LA3, G10 contains LA9, M10 contains LA5. Then cell T10 would add all the numerical portions for a total of 17.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks again for the help!

My range was V6:V8, but see if you adapt this to your needs?
    =SUMPRODUCT(--MID(V6:V8,3,9))

Thank you. This kind of works, but i have to enter LA in all cells otherwise it doesn't work. I'll keep working on it.

    Thanks again for your help!

ummm that's what you said you had??

Are you now saying you may have cells withOUT LA in them?

I suggest you upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.

Try this ARRAY formula, to be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys together.

    =SUM(IFERROR(0+(SUBSTITUTE(E2:O2,"LA","")),0))

    Pl note
Array formula should be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys together.
