Sumif with variable and changing date

I am drawing a blank on how to do the formulas by month and YTD where there is a variable (account number) and date? I have been able to do sumif formulas if I hard code the data and specify which column, but figured there had to be a more simple way.

    Thanks,

Re: Sumif with variable and changing date

The formula you have above would work if everything lined up that way. How would I do the formula if the data that I am looking up I want it to find the account number and then give back the data for the current month and then sum the data for the YTD. The data for the month is in a larger file where I need to find the correct month then sum multiple columns for the year to date.

The formula you have above would work if everything lined up that way.
Then please provide an example workbook that is lined up like your final data.

The data for the month is in a larger file where I need to find the correct month then sum multiple columns
The monthly data for this example doesn't need to be a separate file but showing a few representative data items on a separate worksheet will probably be enough for me to be sure of what you are looking for. It will probably help you translate any solution into your real workbook.

    Thanks!
