Using drop down menu (yes or no) to determine calculation in another cell. PLEASE HELP :(

    Hi all.

Currently looking for some help as getting a bit lost from all of the tutorials online.

I have managed to add a VAT opted row which includes a drop down option of Yes or No. Where the row which states VAT (if applicable), I would like it so that it works out the VAT amount (20%) if the drop down menu from VAT opted is highlighted No. However, if it is highlighted Yes, then it will keep the default amount.

Would anyone know how to do this? I've included a photo which should make it a bit easier to understand, as well as the actual spreadsheet.

    Capture.JPG

If someone could help that would be great.

    Edit:

Just to make it clear I am looking for 20% of the value, rather than the total plus 20%. E.G. if total is £100, E34 is to show £20 if selected no and £0 if selected yes.

    Hi there,

Try inserting the following formula in Cell E34 and see if it does what you asked for:

Now try inserting the following formula in Cell E34 and see if it does what you need:

Maybe I've totally misunderstood your requirements

Hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Try:
    =E32*(1+(C10="YES")*C34)

This did work but i've went back to my colleague and seems i've mixed it up a little.

    What they want is:

E34 to only show 20% of the value of E32 if selected "No" on C10 (E.G. it will show £20 from £100 rather than showing £120). However, if we select "yes" on C10, it will show £0. This is to prevent us adding the total twice.

Hope this makes sense but if not let me know and i'll try and explain it better.

    Hi again,

As per my previous post I used the formula for what I think you need into the attached workbook and it seems to do what you ask in your last post, i.e.:
