Reference a file on Desktop

I know in VBA I can use the ENVIRON argument to reference a users desktop to grab data from a file. Is there a way I can do this in a function? The file with the formula is housed in the same folder on the desktop as the source material. I overwrite this file every time I wish to run a new look at the data and then refresh the fields. The problem is every time I edit the form I have to go to each user and change the formula to point to the data file on their computer. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, but I want to be able to include the same structure into an excel function. So if I am stating that if a cell from doc.xls is not "", give me that cell else ""... How do I refer to that in the excel function...
