Welcome to the nightmare of date & time manipulation
The attached is quick list formatted as you describe the results reflect chaos.
Look at the values 01:25 these were entered as 25:25.
Despite the apparent format Excel refers to them as date related times not periods of time.
I have in the past always been reduced to splitting days/hours/mins/secs and using formula for their addition/subtraction.
