    Pasting month names

If I type JAN in A1 and select this and fill across to A12 Excel kindly translates this to a row of month names.
What I would like to do is to type JAN in A1 select and copy this to B1:B12 and have excel give me the list months here instead of 12 JAN's.
Is this possible? I will be using vba to do the copy and paste

So at the end you want Jan in A1... and Jan-Dec in B1:B12???

    Good afternoon j_southern

What you describe in your first line is two discrete steps.
Your subsequent description is three steps and your are trying to implement it in two steps.

Use the three step approach : (1) Type in A1 (2) Copy is to B1 (3) Use autofill to copy it down

    Re: Pasting month names

I had better show you the dilemma I have.
In order not to burden workbooks with large numbers of formulae I write one row or column of formulae then copy and paste these to a results area, then copy the results and paste as values. This is shown in the attachment. It is accomplished by a small procedure and naming the formula range and results range.
Very often I have a table generated in such a way and headed by month names. It would be easier for me if I could include the month names in the formula.
The ranges are named "Sheet1_Formulas1" and "Sheet1_Results1"
    The procedure is named PasteDownN
You can see that I don't get the names I want

I apologise for my delay in thanking you both for your responses to my problem. I have made both work just how I wanted. As this has been a problem that crops up about once a month you will have saved me hours of wasted time over a year. Many thanks
