I can't find a formula to correlate two columns in my table

    Hello,

Here I have a table with current hours, an archetype and a recommendation. So if the current hour correspond to the archetype, there is no changes to do but if the current hour is either too much, not enough or not in the intervalle, there is a a changement need, either less or more. I need a formula for the Recommandation part, so if anyone can help me, thank you very much. There is the table in the linkScreen Shot 2018-07-08 at 1.02.32 pm.png

    Re: If function

    Shouldn't row 6 be 'less'?

You will need to start with a more formula friendly layout.

None of the 'numbers' in column B are actually proper numbers, as soon as you enter any symbol it becomes a text string, so cannot be compared to column A

    Maybe something like this?

Also, please have a look at the forum rules and make your title a little better before somebody comes in and blocks the thread by quoting a rule breach.

    Re: If function

Is there a possibility of formatting the cell as a number or intervalle and leave the cell like this ?

    Re: If function

If you look at the file that I've re-posted, you have figures that were + or lower end of a range in one column and figures that were - or higher end of a range on another.

If you just had + and - you might be able to get away with some trick formatting, but trying to make it work with something like 36-40 in one cell is creating to many variables to be practical.

Gentle nudge on thread title I shouldn't really be helping you until you improve it.

    Re: If function

Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it, as Jason has said. Thanks!

    • Use concise, accurate thread titles.
    • Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.
    • Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
    • Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.
