Seems like you have done it correctly. Without actually seeing your worksheet, a diagnosis is nearly impossible. Suggest you upload your worksheet. Be sure to sanitize it for confidential information.

Is the date in B1 lower than the date in A1? If so, this could be the cause of the #NUM! error.
EDIT* I just noticed what this line probably means..
so my statement above would not be relevant.the first one inserted is before the second...

That seems like it should work
Check if the dates are actually numeric with this formula
=COUNT(A1,B1)
what result do you get?
