hi makinmomb. input the desired results so that we don't have to second-guess if what we are doing is correct or not. you may look at my signature to upload an eg that is easier to understand.
try this in cell B32:
=SUMIF($A$2:$A$30,A32,$D$2:$D$30)
this sums up column D if column A is equals to A32. copy down.

The total of column D E F G H I J K L M , at the row 32 and 33 , CASH and INV
Ouch it working with normal maths , oops needed not to ask
Works but too doing totals through formula one by one , need automated formula
Try this basic formula:
=SUMIF($A$2:$A$30,"CASH",$D$2:$D$30)
You can adapt it easily for other criteria.
This version can be copied across and down. In D32:
=SUMIF($A$2:$A$30,$C32,D$2:D$30)
Wow Aliw , nice
You're welcome! It's a basic level formula: you would do well to learn about SUMIF and SUMIFS, COUNTIF and COUNTIFS.
