Has anybody else noticed this recently?
=TEXT(MONTH(TODAY()),"mmm")
This results in Jan. Why? When I test the formula in the evaluate formula dialog, it resolves to =TEXT(8,"mmm"), then stumbles at the final hurdle. I've been noticing this for a while - does anyone have any insight?

Thanks, Alex - yes, that works. Of course, I realise now what a dumb question it really was!!!

It's working as expected.
TODAY returns numeric value of date
=TEXT(MONTH(42957),"mmm")
MONTH returns the month number in which the date occurs. 8 = August
=TEXT(8,"mmm")
And TEXT formats 8 as if it were the date serial number of 08/01/1900 which is first month and that in mmm format in Jan.
"Jan"
