Question Best way to achieve headings in cells that has subscript and postscript

What I am trying to achieve:

A dynamic heading with fixed and variable values consisting of subscript.

    Example from the attached image:

I require the subscript "BM" to change to what ever name the user inputs into another cell in BMs place then have "-> i" proceeding it.

Is this even possible with excel?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Excel has an equation editor built into it. Read more about it at:

    Hi MarvinP,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

The equation editor is unable to use the function command on the subscript from what I have tried.

I.e. When I use the function command in a cell for = E4 & "----> i" the output would in the cell would be the value in E4 then the text between the commas (----> i).

When I try to put that text value using the equals sign to call the function command in the subscript box of the equation editor, the function command will not be called, instead the represented value in the subscript box would be the textual value = E4 & " ----> i".

I don't have a good answer for your question but I do remember reading about a newer feature built into the 2016 Excel. It is called Ink to Equations. I wonder if it is new and would do what you want. Read about it at:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/229745/how...ite-equations/

If it does what you want, would it be a good reason to update to Excel 365?

    All good MartinP.

The Ink to Equations will not do what is required as it does not change the equation based on the users cell input.

    Thanks anyway.
