Referencing a stationary place in the spread sheet (not cell designation)

Trying to reference a specific location in Tab A to complete a formula in Tab B.

That location is *always* "second cell in on the second row" regardless of how the spread sheet might be changed.

Currently the data is what is located in Cell B2.

But from time to time, an additional Column B is added, thus shifting everything else to the right, including my referenced cell.

I want the info that is in the *new* cell B2.

I have tried to use the $ when referencing the cell, but it still moves one to the right and becomes C3 when the new Column is added.

How do I reference the cell that is still the "second cell in and one row down" regardless of how many Columns have been inserted?

    Thanks.

    J

    =INDEX('sheetname'!$A:$B,2,2)

Hi Jay, welcome to the forum. Try this:
    =INDIRECT("B2")
