Question Help! Looking for a solution... Vlookup may or may not be it!

    Hi everyone,

I'm having a nightmare trying to get a spreadsheet to do what I would like it to do.

I'm not an excel expert at all but feel I can learn about the formulas I may need.

So here goes... I've got the following sets of data (at the moment in different sheets which I hate)

    Site name, Address, Email, Telephone

And then each site has a varying number of organisations "attached" to it. These organisations collect items from the "site" on a rotational basis each week.

On a seperate spreadsheet I have the organisation name, address, email, telephone.

I would really like to be able to select the "site name" and then have it display the organisations that are tied to it. I then want to be able to select the organisation... and it shows me all the information for them.

Is this too complicated? Am I living in dream world? Or perhaps I should use an access database... I don't know help would be greatly appreciated.

You're heading in right direction. you need a RELATIONSHIP between worksheets/tables....something to link two tables together

So maybe I could try using an index on each set of data?

But that's where I'm getting confused I think... my dilemma is 1 warehouse = 3 or more organisations that are servicing that warehouse.

If you set up as database, you can create a lookup table to pick from the Organisations

Attach a sample workbook (not image).

Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate.

Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Laruen, welcome to the forum

to begin with, your tread title is not quite what we would want (it should describe teh problem, not what you thing the answer could be), but off the top of my head, I cant think of what to call it.

next, agree with John, a CLEAN sample workbook will help a lot.
Then, I have a feeling you will need 1 of the more advanced excel function combos for this, something like the INDEX/SMALL/IF array, but looking at your sample WB will clear that up
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
