Fixing "too many arguments error"

In the workbook attached, there is a drop down in B2. I have tried the following formula to return the smallest value (depending on drop down) in B6 but I keep hitting the “Too many arguments error”.

=IF($B$2="HOME",SMALL($E$6:$E$25,ROW(A1),IF($B$2="AWAY",SMALL(F$6:$F$25,ROW(A1),IF($B$2="OVERALL",SMALL($G$6:$G$25,ROW(A1))))

How do I resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I also think you can reduce the formula to this
=IF($B$2="","",SMALL(INDEX($E$6:$G$25,0,MATCH($B$2,$E$5:$G$5,0)),ROW(A1)))

Another approach...

1. give each set of data a named range, to match the headings
(highlight all the data, including the headings, Formula tab/Create From Selection/Check Top Row)
2. Use this for the MIN...
=SMALL(INDIRECT(B2),1)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
