i have the following code in my sheet which counts the number of times something is done each day as follows

=IF(A4=A3,B3+1,1)

i then want to put another if statement in second column which just puts the final figure for that day grouped together into the highlighted cells in the example

In C2 and drag down: =IF(A3=A2,"",COUNTIFS(A:A,A2))

its ok i solved it myself with trial and error
as below

=IF(B5>B6,B5,"")

You could use this to replace your formula in B2 and drag it down

=COUNTIF($A$2:A2,A2)
