    Post How to exclude rows from being included in a date filter

    Hi there newbie here.

    I have created a fairly basic project schedule in Excel and just in case the attachment hasn't worked the structure is as follows.

    The first row has the overall headings

    A1 = Work Breakdown Structure reference
    B1 = Task Name
    C1 = Duration
    D1 = Start Date
    E1 = End Date

    In Row 2 there is a Level 1 Heading (that groups the activities below)
    In Row 3 the is a Level 2 Heading
    In Row 4 - 17 there are the actual tasks

    This is then replicated down the schedule.

    I want to filter by either Column D1 (start date) E1 (End Date) to check progress e.g. missed milestones but want exclude the Rows that have the Level 1 and 2 Headings.

    This would give me a filtered list of dates but would also include the rows with the Headings in?

    Hopefully the attachment shows the structure (albeit a cut down view).

    In the new added column C you can filter the task.

    See the attached file.

    I got lost on this part.

    Re: How to exclude rows from being included in a date filter

    Thank you for that response.

    I should have been clearer (and I've re read my original and I can understand why you got lost).

    I want to filter on the Date Columns (D and E) but regardless of the result of the filter I want Rows 2 & 3, 18 & 19, 40 to be visible.

    Hopefully I'm making more sense.

    The filter in this file (so after added column C) (in column C) on the issue heading AND the workname.

    After that filter on column D or / and E.

    See for the result the added file.

    Thanks for the help it's much appreciated.

    When I filter on column F (old column E) Date = before '02/04/2017' i get Rows 14 and 30 but Row 2 (heading for row 14) and Row 19 (heading for row 30) have been filtered out.

    The expected result should be Rows 2 & 14 and Rows 19 & 30.

    (Although the formula you have provided has given me another idea)

    Re: How to exclude rows from being included in a date filter

    Although I was looking for different solution this has given me a good workaround for now.

    I'll keep plugging away but this is good enough to keep us going for the next month or so.

    Thank you
