Hi,
I need a formula that makes a cell change color when another cell returns a value.
Example:
A1=1 (I want A2 to turn black)
A1=Blank (No changes in A2)
Best regards
Øystein

try =ISNUMBER($A$1) in CF with Applies to: =$A$2
Thanks for youre response sandy666, but I dont understand what you mean about this formula. Is it possible for you to post a file that contains what im asking for?
Best regards

1. select A2
2. open Conditional formatting
3. New rule, use formula to determine which cells to format
3. format values where this formula is true: =ISNUMBER($A$1) (på norsk: =ERTALL($A$1)
4. select color (black)
5. ok
now try in A1 = X then A1 = 5

Hi sandy666,
You have probably explained it god, but I still dont understand how to do this.
What is "Conditional formatting" and "New rule"?
Best regards
Øystein Breivik

[Where are] 'conditional formatting' and 'new rule'?
The conditional formatting icon is found on the 'Home' tab in the 'Styles' pane. Selecting the conditional formatting icon opens a drop down and new rule is the third option from the bottom.
In the attached file cell A2 is selected. If you enable editing and select conditional formatting > manage rules (last option) you'll see Sandy's formula applied.

Another way:
Select A2 and next
Alt + H, L, N, then down arrow to the end, TAB, =ERTALL($A$1) , TAB, Enter, Click Black, Ok, OK

Thanks for the feedback and marking thread as solved, but never delete description/question from the first post because all answers has non sense if you do that.
If you can bring it back.
