SUM Formula needed between 2 sheets based on cell input into one sheet, sum to the other

I need a formula that will SUM the totals from sheet ‘LG’ F6:F1005 based on the adjacent ‘#’ column in D5:D1005,
and sum those totals into sheet ‘STATS’ C4:C15, based on the matching number in STATS A4:A15

It is important to base this formula on the # column
and not the Type column as the types may change over time
but the #’s will always be the same.

Are you familiar with the SUMIF() and SUMIFS() functions (https://support.office.com/en-us/art...6-611cebce642b ). It seems like one of those should do the job just fine.
