Question Query to Return Sum Based on Category in Dynamic List

Whoo! That was a mouthful.

Ok, I have a formula that works perfectly in Google Sheets, but it doesn't work in Excel.

I have attached a screen shot.excel-problem.png

Cell C4 is supposed to display the value of N5, but only when the Category matches the name of A4. You can see the formula in the formula bar. Hopefully, this is enough info to see the problem. The exact same formula with the same sheet and cell names works on Google Sheets, but not in Excel. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jason

Hi, welcome to the forum

Please upload a sample of your workbook, not a picture of your data. Pictures are pretty much impossible to edit, and no-one wants to re-type your data for you
Also, not all members can upload picture files (Company firewalls and stuff) - and, depending on what browser is being used, some pics dont even show up on the forum

Your workbook should show a small desensitized example of the data you are working with and a manual mockup of the expected results.

Many excel functions dont translate well to google sheets, and vise versa
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

=INDEX($N$5:$N$100,MATCH(A4,$M$5:$M$100,0))

should do it. But a sample sheet is 100% to be preferred.

Thank you!! And sorry, for some reason, my file is 13MB, and every time I would try to upload, it would fail.

We dont need your whole file, just a small representative sample containing enough data to show what you have, and what you want
