    Copying formula

Hello, please advise how to resolve the issue with formula copying automatically down to adjacent cells in a column (through the full length of the column), how to make it calculate in just the active cell
    many thanks

    Re: Copying formula

You can fix formula contents (cells/ranges) using the F4 key which cycles through the options

$A$1 = Absolute reference it will keep A1 no matter where you drag
A$1 = Absolute Row reference - it will keep Row 1 if you drag down but will change column if you drag across
$A1 - Absolute Column reference - it will keep column A if you drag down or across, but will update row when you drag down

Hi PFDave, thank you for response.
the issue is that the whole column gets populated with calculation as soon as formula is entered in one cell. Excel copies the formula automatically.
    thank you

Do you have the file formatted as a data table? if so it will use Autofill to do this.

Select the table - right click - table - convert to range.

Highlight the table, then under Home Ribbon, and Editing, you will have option for clear, choose dropdown and clear formats
