    In E4 copied down:

    =IF(A4<>"",A4,LOOKUP("zzzzz",A$2:A3))

Re: Required formula to find out category

    Hi,

Put the word Mobile in A4 rather than A3 to make the data consistent. Then in E3 copied down

    Formula: copy to clipboard

A word of advice. This is clearly a simplified example, but if you want to use your data for serious analysis then you should consider creating a proper normalised 2 dimensional table so that you can analyse it with a Pivot Table.

So once you've updated column E, can I suggest that you copy and paste back as values and then delete column A. When you add new data be sure to add the category as you enter each new row.
