    Data Sheet populate

    Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me out.

I am working on a spread sheet which tracks warehouse picking the formatting for the input was not designed by me but has been done to be user friendly. It does not, however, help at all for me trying to do analysis from this sheet.

The sheet itself works day by day scrolling horizontally making 365 entries. What I want to be able to do is find the correct function so that I can pull data without having to laboriously use = and defining each cell as the autofill is not picking up the pattern for the number of columns changed between the days.

    can anyone help please

tried to upload images but request timed out.

Will be easier to help if you can provide a sample workbook as I can't make out enough from your images, specifically the bottom one

    Re: Data Sheet populate

    Hi,

You desired output doesn't appear possible to me because of what you're asking for (separate count for relabelled and reboxed, however the Sheet1 view displays these as combined with no way of splitting them out. Also can't see training entry but haven't looked meticulously through it all simply scanned with eyes then quick search).

Typically you'd want your data to be in the cleanest and most user friendly format in the first place which usually takes the form of a data base. From here you can analyse the detail accurately and maintain with relative ease. However I do understand that people/companies may create these templates because it's easier for them and they like the look of it.

Personally I would be looking to review the whole piece because you can't analyse the data while it's in this format. You can replicate something similar to their current form providing it now contains all the fields separately for your use to analyse later. Maybe the user of either a userform to complete which updates both the current/new form, and a data base so that you can analyse, or the user could complete the form as per usual then you could write something in VBA to move the relevant fields into the database which is where you'd want to be running your analysis from.

You might get some other feedback from some more experienced users within Excel than I, but as Data Analyst myself, I know that there would need to be changes to the form regardless so a re-model would be my preference with the view to future proof it.

    Good luck
