    Dynamic Range protection

I want to have some mechanism by which i can automatically protect Column and Row up to which i have entered data i.e once i enter and save the data it cannot be modified without some password.

Example, i have data in column A to D, now if insert data into E column and saves it, it shall get modified without password.

    Re: Dynamic Range protection

If you want this truly dynamic then it requires VBA. That is, the mere act of entering data automatically locks the cell (avk's solution is manual).

This can be done. What is your level of knowledge about VBA? Are there cells in the sheet that start out locked and must stay locked? Which cells are available to enter data?

    Re: Dynamic Range protection

Cells in A to D shall stay locked only, cells in E are empty and shall be locked if i enter data. Next time when i open the file cell E shall alos bel ocked and F shall be available for data. I should be able to open the lock for A to E through some password.

May be password control shall require VBA, but does the dynamic range locking also require VBA OR some formula using through validation can help? I m not well versed with VBA, but if no other ways, pl. suggest VBA also
