Hi - this should be simple, but I'm not getting the syntax right. If a cell in column I is blank, I'd like the cell (in the same row) in column C to be red, i.e., if I15 is blank, C15 should be filled with red. How can this be done?

Select the cells you wish to format, then with Conditional Formatting > New rule >"Use a formula to determine which cells to format." , apply this formula:

Thanks very much. I needed to change ($I1) to ($I2) because there's a column title in I1, but it then worked perfectly.
